Artisic Director

Tara Zaffuto Mullins has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Dance, with a focus on Community Dance Education, from Arizona State University. While attending ASU, she was the research assistant for the resident dance company, Dance Arizona Repertory Theatre, and taught Modern, Jazz, and Dance in World Cultures.

Tara has received many awards and grants for her research, teaching, and choreography, such as the first annual Herberger College of Fine Arts Fellowship, the ASU Women’s Association Graduate Student of the Year, and has presented research at the National Dance Education Organization Annual Conference. Her choreography has been commissioned by Paradigm Players, East Central University, Opera Theatre of Northern Virginia, James Madison University, Dance Arizona Repertory Theatre, and the Latin Ballet of Virginia. She has worked with such artists as Liz Lerman, Shane O’Hara, Mary Fitzgerald, Elina Mooney, and Richard Colton.

Tara has trained in modern, jazz, ballet, yoga, and Pilates as well as the somatics study of ideokinesis. She served as the Educational Programs Director for The Latin Ballet of Virginia for three years. She is currently the artistic director for Z Mullins Dance Company. She is married to Eddie and is the mother of Grace and Lucas.
