Schools: The Z Mullins Dance Company teaching artists provide dance and movement workshops for students K-12 for a variety of subject areas. The company will work with teachers to provide subject specific lesson plans that can be developed and explored even after the company is no longer in residence. All lessons are designed to support the SOLs.

Organizations: The Z Mullins Dance Company provides workshops for a variety organizations and communities such as Boys and Girls Clubs; Health Clubs; Nursing Homes; children and adults with varying abilities; Homeless children, teens and women; Senior Centers; and cancer survivors. Dance can provide a channel through which every human being can express his or her individuality while reinforcing positive relationships in their community and beyond.

Businesses: We provide workshops that are designed to reinforce a positive work environment by providing a creative and physical outlet for individuals. The Z Mullins Dance Company teaching artists can design a program that incorporates a variety of dance and exercise forms for a specific team, conference or department.

Sample Workshops:

Jump, Twist and Boogie! - an exciting after school dance program. Students will enjoy a high energy fusion of dance styles including jazz, modern and hip hop as well as choreography based on sports movements. The class will also include opportunities for the children to create and share their own dances. The instructor will focus on coordination, agility, flexibility and self-expression.

Fitness, Food and Fun: This program is tailored for 4th and 5th grade girls. It introduces students to healthy life choices and responsible habits through fun movement exercises. Students will get excited about nutrition and fitness and learn to feel confident in their own bodies. “Fitness, Food and Fun” is an important workshop that will help tackle the childhood obesity epidemic at an early age.

Photo-Dance Workshop: A workshop tailored for high school students that allow them to explore and express various subjects through drawing, movement, photography/video and a multimedia presentation. The workshop can be taught to students as well as teachers.

The Home Project: What does home mean to you? Where is home? This program explores the meaning of home, how home is expressed in literature, music and poetry, and allows students to express their individual ideas about home.
