Company Members

Rebecca A. Ferrell, native of Richmond, Virginia, is a dance educator, perfomer, choreographer, and the Regional Director of Little People’s Creative Workshop. She received her B.F.A. in Dance and Choreography from Virginia Commonwealth University. Rebecca also holds a Master’s Certificate in Nonprofit Management from VCU and is CECDI certified to teach dance to children ages 3-6. Rebecca’s dancing has taken her around the country and she has worked with many established choreographers including world-renowed Tere O’Connor. Rebecca’s own work has been seen at VCU, ODU, Grace St. Theater, The Firehouse Theatre, Art 6, and Gallery5. She is currently teaching and choreographing at numerous schools in the Richmond area including the Collegiate School and the Center for the Arts. Rebecca is currently working on several dance film projects under the title of FDance, an orgainzation dedicated to her own choreographic endeavors. Rebecca is very excited to join Z Mullins Dance.

 

Pamela R. Gamlin grew up in Springfield, VA where she studied Jazz, Tap and Ballet. She worked in a local studio as an assistant ballet teacher for 4-6 year olds. She pursued her studies, with a focus on Modern at George Mason University before receiving a B.F.A. in Dance and Choreography and a B.S. in Physical Education from Virginia Commonwealth University. While at VCU, Pam created and performed in several pieces, which were seen at VCU and Grace St. Theater. Currently Pam is certified as a Health Fitness Specialist and a Cancer Exercise Trainer from the American College of Sports Medicine and works full-time as a Personal Trainer at The Country Club of Virginia. She is married and the mother of one to her son, Emerson. Pam was very excited to join Z Mullins Dance Co. in the spring of 2007.

 

Laura K. Gorsuch, a native of Lewisburg, WV, began her dancing career at the early age of three. She studied contemporary dance at The Dance Studio under the direction of Beth White and Carli Marenick. As a teen, she performed with Trillium Performing Youth and has since returned home as a guest artist for Trillium Performing Arts Collective concerts. Laura graduated Sum Cum Laude in 2005 from Radford University with a BFA in Contemporary Dance. While at RU, she performed in various concerts, participated in the American College Dance Festival, and studied abroad. For two years, she danced with danahbellaDanceWorks, a modern company in southwest Virginia, and spent the summer of 2006 performing with Theatre West Virginia. In January 2007, she was highlighted as a soloist in First Stages at Carnegie Hall in Lewisburg as an upcoming young artist. Laura is a professional school counselor, and earned her Masters of Education Degree in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University in May 2009. She has taught after school dance programs in various schools within the Richmond community, and has been a member of Z. Mullins Dance Company since 2007.

 

Rai Anne I. Larkins began her dance training in Macon, Georgia, with a focus on ballet, under the instruction of Alice Strawn Sheridan. She pursued her studies at the International Ballet Rotaru School, North Carolina School of the Arts, and at the Jarvis Conservatory with the New York Baroque Dance Company, before receiving her Bachelor of Art in dance from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro in 1998. Rai Anne joined the Jan Van Dyke Dance Group in 1999, performing as a company member for three years, and touring with the North Carolina Dance Festival. While in North Carolina, her professional experience also included performing work for Traves Butterworth, Renee O’Connor, Jennifer Mitchell, and Susan Andrews' AHA! Dance. Rai Anne moved to Richmond in 2002 with her husband, John. She was a member of the Starr Foster Dance Project for four years. Rai Anne enjoys the job of "full-time Mom" to her two children, Ella and Charlie.

 

Kendall Baltimore Neely earned her degree in Dance from James Madison University in 1997 and has since become an active member of the Richmond Dance Community as a teacher, dancer and choreographer. Ms. Neely has co-directed the eclectic and ever growing dance program at St. Catherine’s School since 1999. At St. Catherine’s she teaches creative movement, modern dance, dance composition and cultural dance styles to students in grades K-12. Other teaching credits include The Creative Dance Center, Chantilly Va., Stage Door Dance Co., Manassas Va., The Bates Dance Festival: Children’s Program, Lewiston ME., James Madison University, Harrisonburg Va., Martinique School of Dance, Richmond City Public Schools, The Boys and Girls Club of Richmond, School of Performing Arts in the Richmond Community (SPARC), St. Catherine’s Summer Creative Arts Program (Cats Cap), Virginia Association of Independent Schools. In addition to teaching, Ms Neely performed from 1999-2004 with Richmond based company, The Starr Foster Dance Project. She also performed works with dancer/musician Robbie Kinter. After taking a two year sabbatical to begin developing her own choreography and to experience the joys of motherhood, Kendall is thrilled to join Z Mullins Dance Company in its opening season. Kendall resides in Midlothian with her husband Brian and son Scott.

 

Ashley Parks Ashley Parks, a dancer, and teacher is a native of Richmond, Va. She started dancing at the young age of 4 at local studios in Richmond and then danced at Henrico High School Center for the Arts where she danced under Tara. She then went on to earn a degree in Dance from James Madison University in 2006 where she performed in numerous dance concerts with the Contemporary and Associate Dance Ensembles, as well as attended The American College Dance Festival. While at JMU she taught classes two days a week in Elkton, Virginia at The Academy of Expressive Dance as well as served as president and choreographer for Madison and Mozaic Dance Clubs. After graduation she moved to Washington, D.C. and worked for Dance Place performing dance outreach at local schools. She is currently in her third year teaching at Prince William Dance Academy, second year at Jessica Mogan School of Dance and first year with Dancing Little Stars, and Henrico High School Center for the Arts. Ashley is thrilled to be apart of the Z Mullins Dance Company!

 

Stacy Pfeifer grew up in Columbia, Maryland where she studied modern dance with Marilyn Byers and the Dance Dimension. She graduated from James Madison University with a degree in dance in 1999 and moved to Richmond after graduation. Stacy worked at the Village Dance Studio for two years before creating the dance program at the Collegiate School. Stacy is starting her sixth year at Collegiate where she teaches dance and creative movement to students K-12. She danced with the Starr Foster Dance Project, a local professional modern dance company, for four years. She is currently a member of the Partners In the Arts Teacher Training and Assessment Project, where teachers study, assess and prove that arts-based integrated instruction improves student achievement. Stacy has given many movement workshops in the Richmond area, including Early Childhood Music and Movement, Virginia Association of Independent Schools, and Partners in the Arts. Stacy joined Z. Mullins Dance in winter of 2006 and is very excited to be a part of it!

 

Lisa Perkinson holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance from James Madison University. While at JMU, she performed in the Contemporary Dance Ensemble and had her choreography presented on JMU’s main stage, Latimer-Shaeffer Theatre. Her solo, Hear, was chosen to be performed at the Mid-Atlantic American College Dance Festival at Hollins University in March 2009. She has had the opportunity to work with choreographers Rebecca Hodal, Starr Foster, Shane O’Hara, Tara Zaffuto Mullins, and Shannon Hummel among others. Since graduation, Lisa has been dancing with Z Mullins Dance Company, based in Richmond, Virginia. She also teaches at Gotta Dance! School of Performing Arts and has taught classes at St. Catherine’s School. She has been a guest artist with the Appomattox Regional Governor’s School for the Arts and Technology and choreographed a piece entitled Intertwined Beings that was performed in their concert at Richmond Ballet. Lisa is excited to be dancing with Z Mullins Dance Company and looks forward in continuing to teach, perform, and choreograph throughout the Richmond area.

 

Kara is a dance teacher, choreographer and performer working in the greater Richmond area. She received her dance education through James Madison University where she worked with guest choreographers Donna Costella, Meisha Bosma and Monica Bill Barnes. Kara attended Dance New Amsterdam's Summer Intensive in New York in 2005 where she performed a piece by choreographer Ezra Caldwell. In 2006, she attended the American Dance Festival in Durham, North Carolina where she studied under and performed works by choreographers David Dorfman, Paul Matteson and Jen Nugent. Kara has taught and choreographed for various Christian Youth Theater classes and productions including Annie, Seussical the Musical, Charlotte's Web, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat and Jungle Book. Kara currently teaches dance at West End Assembly of God where she artistically directs and choreographs for the weDance Ensemble. She also teaches dance for K-12 at Collegiate School and is choreographing their Spring musical, As You Like It.
